We arrived late in Oahu…10:30 pm we landed…Hale Koa hotel around 11:30….mix up with rooms…MIL doesn’t have a room…luckily we have 2 for my family of 5 so throw her in one for the night….but wait….there’s a fire alarm. We can’t go to the rooms until cleared….finally in bed at 1am. There’s a bright side; we adjusted to the time change quicker!
After breakfast at the hotel that took far too long [it was ‘free’ so we had to listen to all the tours and activities we could book..] first order of business…SURF Lessons for the kids and hubby. I had to take pictures. ;o)
But first…the view…
We went down to Aloha Beach Services and Lumpy was their instructor. They all had fun and made it look easy.
Steak Shack for a yummy and relatively affordable lunch.
Here’s our view from the ‘gardenview’ rooms at Hale Koa. It’s a Military Hotel so you have to stay with someone Military. Thankfully Dad was with us. Great rates. Tim and I had the corner room and it had a peek-a-boo ocean view on the side. Nice. We enjoyed having the connecting rooms for privacy and 2 bathrooms! The rest of the trip we’d be sharing…yes 5 of us with 2 teenage girls…
Off to swim and relax…then to Snorkel Bob’s to rent gear and get shave ice right around the corner….this was our favorite of the 3 places we went on Oahu…..Waiola! Delicious.
Hit Chinatown for leis for kids and grandparents… the kids had fun picking them out. We ‘presented’ them to the folks before heading to our reservation @ Tiki Grill.
Dinner @ Tiki Grill. I had made reservations….we should have played by ear…we were tired and some were a bit cranky….time for bed. Thankfully this didn’t happen too much.
